Saved by My Gas Detectors
I love the fact that I have gas detectors installed in my home now after I had a recent gas fire. I was warned to have the detectors installed, but disregarded the suggestion as an added expense. I then had a small gas fire in my home, which was started by a gas heater, and though we managed to contain the fire, I was astounded at the smoke damage caused by such a small fire. All our clothes smelt of smoke, which permeated right into the deepest parts of our cupboards. Believe me when I tell you, it is almost impossible to get that smell of smoke out of the clothes and linen. The insurance company did not hesitate to honor our claim, but as is quite normal, we were underinsured and managed to replace only about half of our damaged goods. I am so glad I now have the added protection of the gas detectors.
